April was a crazy blur. I was trying to get a handle on my new calling, teach preschool, finish up scouts, tutor, family wedding and visits, vacation, buy a new car, watch two kids.... All good things though. It just really left no time for blogging. I am sure the two people that read this blog have been very disappointed. ;) The reason that I love to blog is it really is my family history. Because of that, I feel like I need to rewind life a little and try to record some of the few moments that happened.
Swim Lessons
These two girls are fish!! Madi is already swimming through the deep. She just loves it! It is so fun to see her progressing every year. Tyli has no fear. She got to attend her first lesson by herself. She didn't even hesitate. No separation anxiety --nothing. She could have acted like she missed me a little. After all it was her first class without mommy. I can't complain though. Especially after I watched several of the other moms trying to coax their kids into the water.
Pretty, Pretty Princesses
Tyli had her hair curled for the first time. She pointed to herself and said, "Princess hair!" Now every time I do her hair I tell her that I will be giving her some princess hair. It works like a charm! Madi looks pretty princessy too!
Martsie's Wedding
This was definitely the biggest event of the month. Martsie was getting married! Martsie and her husband Erin were just the perfect couple. They just seem so happy. Madi and Tyli got to attend. Tyli was so cute and every time she saw Martsie she would say "Princess, temple, princess." I heard that repeated a million times that day and I love that she got to see that! It was just a perfect, beautiful day!
Amy and Kinsey got to come from Florida for the wedding. It was so fun to see them. Amy was the photographer. I got to follow her around and be her "assistant". She was awesome and the pictures turned out awesome. If you want to see them, or learn more about her photography you can visit her photo blog at http://amylopezphotography.blogspot.com/.
Our New Car
We have had one car for about six months. It has been a real challenge. We are so grateful for so many friends and family who helped drive us everywhere. We were grateful for their help and were able to save some money. It had been long enough though and we really needed a car. How lucky was I to get my dream car. I got a new Honda Pilot complete with seat warmers, a sun roof, and dvd player for the kids. It is awesome!! It has eights seats but isn't too large and isn't a minivan (this was more a requirement from Jon than myself.) We love it! Even months later and am thrilled every time I get to drive it. Now hopefully someone won't crash into it.
The first thing we wanted to do to celebrate was go on a road trip. So we headed out right after the wedding. It was awesome!!
ST. George
Our trip to St. George was quick but so much fun!! The girls were awesome. We just had a great time being together and forgetting about all of the responsiblities hanging over us. It was a great time. Our favorite part was hanging out with my parents who were there as well. We can't wait to go back. Here' s a little of what we did.
We swam, swam, and swam some more. We could hardly keep Madi out of the pool! Even at ten at night after swimming all morning and afternoon she wanted to go back for more. She learned how to swim through the deep taking breathes and became an accomplished back floater. Tyli love jumping off of the side. She did it a hundred times. (No exageration I swear!) She also loved kicking and blowing bubbles. It was great to see those swimming lessons paying off!
We had a fun afternoon at the park. We played on the toys, blew bubbles, kicked the soccer ball and played frisbee. It was so beautiful! We were just saoking up the sun.
We visited snow canyon with Grandam Dorothy. The kids loved having her all to themselves. We had a blast playing in the sand. Of course I had to show the girls how you can run and then jump off the hill and you can go really far. Somehow I remember jumping a lot farther when I was younger...hmmm, what am I old or something? I think all I accomplished was giving Jon one more thing to make fun of me.
Our short jaunt to St. George made it possible to still be home to participate in all of the "regular" Easter festivities. One of which in included coloring Easter eggs. Tyli had colored hand for several days, but it was worth it. The funny thing is the "Easter Bunny" hid all of the dyed eggs out with the other eggs. They were out all night so we ended up just throwing them away. Thanks a lot Easter Bunny!
The rest of our Easter Festivities were great! We joined the neighborhood Easter egg hunt, had our own, dressed up for Easter Sunday, had our own yummy dinner. It was fun to enjoy ourselves. It was a great Easter.
So the rest of the month was a blur. What can I say? Life really hasn't stopped blurring by. It is full though and I wouldn't have it any other way.
One last misc. event was having our basement flood. Yuck! What a pain!! The Weber water was turned on and we never completely turned off the water spicket outside so it slowly filled up our window well, which then in turn filled up my basement. We are grateful that we found it when we did. We never even go in the basement very much but Jon had decided he needed a book that was down there and he discovered the mess. This occurred right in the midst of planning our first primary activity. It was quite stressful! Luckily Jon took care of it or I might have had a complete breakdown. This was the aftermath...
Even though it wasn't that fun, I couldn't help feeling blessed that I have a basement that can be flooded. Even a year and a half later I still love my house.
Well, that's April for ya! A little longer than a nutshell, but recorded all the same. :)
PS. This is how we came upon Madi one night. Apparently Tyli was bugging her. Why she chose this location to escape is beyond me. Kids really do the funniest things.
