Madi can't be four. Wasn't it yesterday she was just born? Or smiling at me for the first time? Or learning to sit up? Or learning to talk? Or saying her words so cute? Or holding my hand everywhere she went? It seems strange as a parent to spend so much time trying to help a person learn and grow when all I really want is for her to never change. OK, maybe that's not true, but if only she could do it a little slower.

Madison has been a joy since her surprise arrival. I've seen her bring light and joy to others especially her family and mostly her parents. She is bright and happy and fun. She sings a song wherever she goes. She loves to read, color, dance, swim and play. She is so creative and loves to problem solve. I can't imagine my life without her smile each morning. I love you Madi. Happy Birthday!

4th of July

The 4th of July is my absolute favorite holiday!! I get to spend the day with my friends and family doing so many fun and exciting things. This year Jon and I added a new event to our day. We ran in our first 5K race. It was so much fun! (When it was over.) We ran it with my sister, Jami, and my nephew, Dylan. I of course came in last out of the group, but I didn't even care. I did it! Yeah! I even finished much sooner than expected which made me happy. Oh yeah, and most importantly, I didn't die.

After the race we ate at the City breakfast. This is always fun to attend because it is run by our old ward. It was so great to see everyone. Right after we head over to the parade. We feel like we get the best spot and have the Kaysville parade system all figured out. The girls loved catching the candy and Madi even came home with a Reindeer that plays the tune Jingle Bells. Grandma Donna changed the words to, "4th of July, 4th of July, Happy 4th of July!" By the end of the day we knew why that had given that toy away. Madi loved it though and it spent the rest of the day with her.

After the parade,we came home for a nap and then we went swimming at the Fulks' pool and ate dinner with Jon's family. It was the perfect way to cool off.

We finished the day with my family watching the fireworks at the Davis High School field. We love being right under them. We love the music and hearing the big boom. OK, I love it. Tyli didn't exactly enjoy this portion of the program. By the time we got home both girls were asleep. Jon and I visited with my family before they had to leave. It was a favorite day for us all!
